Protection for rubber?

Post by learyd »

Do you need to apply grease or Vaseline to the rubber gaiters on the steering and ball joints, to stop them drying out and perishing?
cheers

Traditionally, nothing is needed.
However, the quality of modern rubber seems to be very poor in comparison to the original stuff.

Neither should do any harm, so try both, make a note which side you put which on!

Another thing you could try is silicone grease.
