Take it out and check if the plastic bush + spring is present on the end of the lever - items 23 & 24. http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/Shop/ViewP ... exID=17075 Could also be general g/box wear - in particular worn selector forks.

As Roy suggests, but also what gearbox and gear lever do you have? The 948 lever appears to fit the 1098 box OK, but is actually too short and creates a lot of free play.

hi how do i know what gearbox i have and how can i differenciate the gear sticks as to me it looks quite long but i dont know what the other one looks like so dont know if i have a small one or a large one (lol no comments please)

948 box has a smooth casing - the 1098 boxes have a ribbed casing, and a cut away in the bell housing to help clear the steering rack.
