Outside Parking or Garage

Post by Uncle Cib »

May I ask what the general view is, of keeping a Moggy outside but under a cover. My garage only takes one car but there is very secure (behind locked gates) parking on my gravel driveway. My other car has to be garaged as it is a convertable and I do not want the hot sun and winter weather damaging the hood. I certainly don't want my completely original 1956 Series II saloon to deteriorate during the winter months however. A car port may be an option too.
Thank you in anticipation.

I keep/have kept all my cars outside and it really takes its toll this close to the sea. :(

You can get fitted covers and breathable covers which are suppposed to allow the car to breath whilst keeping the rain and crud off. It wont be cheap - nowhere near - but I'd just get the best available.
If the cover is not breathable it'll rot just as quick as without one!
Cant see a carport offering much protection, unless teamed with a cover too.
What would Macgyver do..?

I'd pick a car port over a cover, just drive in in out of the worst of the weather.
No worries about having to strap the cover on lest the wind blow it off and non of the faff of just handling and storing the cover itself.
No shortage of air movement which should allow the car to dry faster than even a breathable cover.

Try applying to the Local council for a garage I did here in Faversham and got one only £27 a month much cheaper than private and only 5 min walk away
