This has an MOT?!!!

Post by Dryad »

Anyone else seen this on eBay. It's still taxed and MOT has just expired. It has to be suspect - look at those sills, and especially that crudely fixed on front number plate covering up a completely different plate on the last photo! :o

From what I can see, the seller is being honest. It only just scrapped through an MOT 12 months ago and hasn't moved since. The photos are taken to show the problems. What's the issue? It needs full restoration and is doable. Certainly no worse than some I've seen; just not for the faint hearted.

It's not an 803 engine..... But I agree - the advert is straight enough - although some of the underside bodging is quite incredible.......

I was concerned that someone had tried to make it more sellable by swapping the numberplates with a Minor that had been scrapped without DVLA being notified. I'll get me coat.....

It isn't that much worse than my car was when I picked it up and that had an MOT which was only a few months old.
I was amazed, because when I started working on it, it almost fell to bits in my hands.

I got a Morris van in March that had just passed its MOT but the day after I got it most of the brake fluid had come out of the rear cylinders and there were other problems with it.When I got the brakes done the mechanic said the person who MOTed it had not tested the brakes as the rear brakes had'nt worked for a long time as the had been fitted incorrectly. It has broken down on lots of occasions.

Sadly a mot doesnt mean alot on classic cars, when you ring a seller of a minor and ask 'what condition' is the car in and they reply its just passed a mot, i trying and explain in doesnt mean much, you can have holes in your floors etc as long as its not 12 inches within a steering, suspension mounting or seat belt ancourage..... honest people a mot means nothing and really only applies as day of test that examiner felt it was ok.
