2-Door and 4-Door Hand-brake in same place?

Post by BigDawgV8 »

Hi All,

A slightly strange question for a sunday morning. :D

Is the hand-brake lever in a 2 door saloon the same distance away from the front of the car as in a 4 door saloon?

My thinking is that the doors are longer on a 2 door so assuming the front seats have more leg-room the hand-brake might be further back too?

Can anyone confirm please.

Thanks!

Martin

I've not noticed any difference when driving a two or four door. Although the doors are longer on a 2 door the car is the same length as a 4 door and the floor panels are the same. I doubt that Morris changed the positioning of the handbrake just to suit 2 door owners with longer legs. It would have disadvantaged those with short arms! :D

nope, the seats weren't any further back in a two door either (the only difference being which set of holes they're bolted into). the floor pans and handbrake mounts wouldn't have changed between models.

handbrake cables are all the same (except for LCV's) so it suggests the handbrake is the same distance from the wheels.

the only difference you could find is if someone has moved the handbrake further back if they've fitted a five speed gearbox.
