brake lights

I noticed today that when our car is running the brake lights are staying on , any ideas?

Most likely a faulty switch, but could be a wiring fault anywhere in the loom. Start by disconnecting one wire from the switch - if that cures the problem, then fit a new switch. The switch is located on the floor of the engine bay at the fron right hand side, just below where the fresh air heater intake hose goes.
