Disc Brake Swap

Post by iandromiskin »

Question - There are disc brakes fitted to the blue traveller and I was wondering if it was possible to remove these, presumably the whole leg fitting, and swap it with a the standard front suspension on my green car ?? I'm only thinking from the point of view of safety. The traveller has a servo too.

Presumably with a service, replacement pads and fitted by a professional it should work ???

you shouldn't need to remove the whole leg, you could just unbolt the hub and brakes.

be sure to remove the top hat valve from the master cylinder, and if putting drums on the one that had discs, refit the top hat in that master!

Are they Marina discs? If so, the other thing I remember from fitting them is you need to drill the four mounting holes on the upright very slightly larger for the Marina bolts to fit. There's also a spacer for the inner bearing that'll need transferring too - on mine it tends to stay on the stub axle when I take the hub off.
