Trunnion Trouble

Post by custommartin »

Hi,

I've just been contacted by another user, who asked me where they could get a new L/h top trunnion!!!

They have tried Bull motif, but were told that they had sold out and were struggling to get more!!!

I did suggest trying a few other large specialists.

Anyone else had a problem?

Surely you don't have to buy a complete up-right, just to replace a trunnion??

Cheers

I've had problems occasionally (twice in 10 years) most suppliers buy them in batches and they can run out whilst waiting for a new batch to be machined, or that a delivery runs many weeks late etc.. - however after a couple of phonecalls it is usually possible to find someone else who has some.

I've got some new original uprights, without trunnions, and I'm dreading the day that I try to get trunnions to fit. I can't believe they still use the same thread, I mean exactly the same! Sceptical, me?

Yes Ray thats usually the way, I would suggest trying the specialists that also do repairs as their stock control is probably a bit better then Bull Motif who deal in mail order and can get a sudden run on parts.

I'm sure I've got an unused pattern l.h. top and bottom trunnion somewhere. If they are desperate and can't source I can sell at the listed prices + postage.
I know I've a pair of BL trunnions but saving those.
