Isle of Wight

Post by RogerRust »

I've just had a weeks holiday on the Isle of Wight.

I've never seen so many classics in daily use there were too many Morris Minors to count and every thing from an early E type to an Austin Four Truck. They have a two day classic car rally in September I might even take the MG over for the weekend.

One goes from Lymington to Yarmouth (IOW). I've only used the Southampton to Ryde one. Shop around online to find the best prices. Usually cheaper if you can go on the Friday and return Monday.

Good luck finding one.I travelled over daily for 7 years. the ferry companies have that route tied up tighter than a pully nut.

I'd very much recommend the Lymington route over Southampton or Portsmouth. You get a nice drive through the New Forest before you sail and afterwards the west of the island is a much better drive than the road out of Cowes or Ryde.
Older and more confused than I could ever imagine possible.

Don't remember any ferry discounts for the Rally. We've always just shopped around. There seem to be 3: wightlink, Isle of Wight ferries and Red Funnel.
