seal between front wing

Hi,
On my newly acquired saloon, there is an almost continuous gap between the nearside wing and the body, that is visible under the bonnet edge. Would it be wise to use some sort of sealant here, and if so, should it be squeezed in from the underside or the top side? I'd prefer not to remove the wing to apply it if at all possible. I had thought of Dumdum(?) putty but it would be an extremely messy job, and maybe too putty like to get into the gap! The pictures below show the gap with the bonnet closed.

don't think you would ever get it to look right just with filler/sealant I think you would have to take the wing off and realign it looks well out of place,unless you were going to paint the joint with matching body colour but would always look wrong.

i used dum dum when reassembling mine- annoyingly, though, the paint's reacted with it :/
be sure to test it out before hand :p
what i like about dum dum is how mouldable it is.

nb. DON'T use a silicon-based sealant, as it will attack the steel

It looks like the wing has been off in the not too distant past.
That means it should be fairly painless to remove it again and do a better job.

They just bolt on, the lights can stay in, just unplug the bullet connectors.

It also looks like there is scope to dress ( judiciously hit with a hammer ) the edge to get a better fit overall.

Yes, remove the wing (1/4 whitworth head, 5/16 BSF thread bolts), dress the flange so the wing fits better then fill the gap with overpaintable seam sealer, finally prime and paint the sealer (Tiger seal, Upol etc) for an invisible join!
