Temperature gauge

Post by hdavy »

I have a gauge (actually in my MGA) which has a defective bulb at the head end. This is not actually electric but works with a capillary tube (that's the one with the wiggly wire wound round it) I can only buy a complete new oil/water gauge unit, which very expensive. Could anyone find me an old temp gauge that doesn't work but has the head end complete? I could then possibly (though very tricky) graft this onto the end of my existing unit. Any suggestions of where to search would be very welcome.

There was a thread on here recently about repairing temp. gauges or try Speedy Cables (Inst. Division). There is more to it than sticking a new bowl on the end of the tube.

You can't 'graft it on' - the capillary is filled with ether, or at least it was until it broke........ There's no way to refill it.
