Timing and rotor Arm
when I set my timing the rotor Arm was not pointing to Piston 1 but was 180 out , it runs well has the timing chain been set wrong. and will it be alright

If it runs well I wouldn't worry about it.
More likely the distributor drive gear has been fitted wrong than the timing chain I think.

Makes no odds - you can set it either on #1 or #4 - but I'm intrigued to know how you know what to 'set' it to! The only way to set it for your engine is to keep advancing it till you get a little 'pinking' - then retard it just enough to stop the pinking. It's then set ideally for YOUR engine.

Just changed the broken dizzy it started up and turned it until it ran best

After the Car was running I just checked the Manualand it said I shoud check that the rotor arm was pointing to number one piston .

As before - you can set it when it's pointing to # 1, or # 4 - or indeed # 2 or # 3 !
