indicator problem

Post by NOEL »

My near side rear indicator has stopped working,I have checked the bulb which looked ok,swapped it over with one on the off side and it worked fine so it cant be that, the tail lights work fine, when indicating left the light on the stalk blinks once then goes out. indicating right works pefectly. The flasher unit "ticks" when indicating right but nothing when indicating left, the front near side indicator flashes but appears to work at twice the normal speed. I tried "piggy backing" the wire (green) from the indicator light to the red and green wire which I belive supplies the feed but still no joy. The flasher unit feels quite hot when used. is it the flasher unit? is it a bad earth at the rear? and if so where is it? (found the one at the front) ,a break in the wire or a bulb holder problem ? any suggestions welcome
thanks in advance.

It's not the flasher unit - it works to the right. So yes - bad earth or poor connection. You will just need to track it down..

As the tail light works then the earth should be OK. Check the connectors between the indicator switch and the lamp
