Dash tray height?

Hi there,

Does anyone know the height of the opening of the under-dash tray in a minor? Don't know if it varies with year of manufacture, so lets say a 1970 model. If someone's kind enough to measure for me can you also tell me the depth of the tray (although I'm pretty sire its deep enough)
I have a pair of boxed 6x9 speakers and I'm praying that they will fit in the gap so that I don't have to cut any of the interior trim to sink speakers in. I want to keep mine as tastefully modified as possible, and to leave it as original as possible and I haven't collected it yet so I can't measure for myself.
