Mission accomplished - I am now a Traveller owner :-)

After a jaunt away at sea (hence my absence from the message board) I went to view a lovely Moggy today, and after she passed my extensive list of checks, taken from here and a few other websites, I have paid my deposit. I will be picking her up next weekend .
Her name is Mary-Angela, and she is a Maroon 1970 Traveller.
In the absence of disk space on my computer, I direct you to the advert in which I found her for pictures. She's a beauty, shiny on top and solid on the bottom, and the engine runs beautifully.

The one downside to her is that she doesn't have an unleaded head, but as soon as funds allow I will be buying and fitting one myself, in preparation for the LPG kit that will soon follow.
Electronic ignition and a front anti-roll bar are next on the cards, apart from that I'm going to try to keep her fairly original.

Obscenely excited doesn't do justice to how much I'm looking forward to the 120 mile drive to get her home, and every mile after that.

Looks fantastic and congratulations. Personally, I wouldn't go splashing cash out on an unleaded head unless you are motorway driving a lot. I'd save the pennies and stock up on a decent tool kit and a few necessary spares to carry in the boot.

Hi Dean, Thanks for the reply.

Given that I am already a Land Rover owner, my tool kit is already pretty extensive .
My reasons for the unleaded head is that she will be covering a fair few miles - including an 800 mile round trip to Holland at the end of July . Also to run LPG you need hardened valve seats as you can't use any additives with it.
I am currently kicking myself as I forgot to write down the distributor number after I checked it - I tend towards the view that anyone who runs a dizzy car is foolhardy if they don't carry a spare cap and rotor arm at least - I got caught out once and never intend to do so again...
I'll be buying those as soon as the seller gets back to me with the numbers.

What other spares should I consider squirreling away in the boot?

As spares.. as much as possible or as least as you are brave enough to tempt fate with . My spares include:

2 tonne Trolley Jack - This is the biggest annoyance as it takes up valuable room in the boot.
Full spanner set.
Points.
Plugs.
Condenser.
Wire ties.
Spare fuses.
Can of oil.
4 litres of water.
Tyre valves.
A few bulbs.
Full roadside recovery.
Credit card...

Very nice. I still have the original head (non-unleaded) and have covered alot of dual carriageway driving with no problems. I occasionally put the additive in and for the price, I prefer it.
The usual distributor is the Lucas 25D I beleive. Mine is totally original and have rarely had problems relating to fuel or ignition. Keep it original until it goes wrong... then fix it ;)

With regards to getting the spares I'll need to carry, I've just realised that Charles Wares is less than a 1 mile detour from my journey home, and only 17 miles from where I pick her up.
Therefore I'm just going to risk the first 17 miles, rock up, and say 'every ignition spare for this please!'

I can't wait, I'm actually losing sleep with excitement... how sad is that!

Oh and with regards to the Unleaded head, I'll be keeping it for a while. It will take me a while to save up for all the bits I need for LPG, and the additive is considerably cheaper than I thought. Bought a 1l bottle of Lucas Lead substitute - enough for 450 litres (or 3400 miles @ 35mpg) for £12!
