Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
each to their own about boot racks, I, like nuffles, love mine, I think it gives the car some character, and it was what made me buy the car!, but i don't want to turn this into an argument, your opinion is your opinion, and my opinion is my opinion.[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]
I must say that I think the wooden slat ones look even better, but I like mine as it is.
as for worst accessory, erm, it would either be the headlight peaks or Chrome/alloy rocker covers.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
I think The Worst Accessory Ever needs to have a large dash of snake oil which a boot rack lacks completely.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
On my 54 the previous owner bolted them to the door tops at the top just by the top corner of quarterlight... These are perfectly aligned to block my vision at 45 degrees... so I'v had a couple of goosebump moments so far - on mini roundabouts and crossroads. I need to get them moved or removed sharpishcome on chaps, you aint fick, re. clip on mirrors.... mount em as high as possible and you cant get a blind spot..... look at your nearest lorry for proof... i have one on my van and i would not be without it.....
Or maybe just shorten my torso by about 4"

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
Hmm... I used to have a door mirror which I had fixed to the quarterlight glass. Last year I replaced my quarterlight, and never got round to refitting the bolt-on one. It did take me a while to get used to looking at the wing mirror - but, I've now decided I much prefer using that and will not be refitting the door one! I find the field of vision is much wider - particularly useful when parking, or when driving on multiple carriageway roads.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
Oh Poor George.
He has those horrible headlight peaks!!! I haven't worked out what use they are yet and it makes the car look like it is trying to be American!!
Did they have a purpose? Can't think of any reason why you would want them on your car!!
One of my jobs to do is to take them off. Sorry if anyone likes them.
Another accessory I don't like is the ash trays!! (Only 'cos smoking is a pet hate of mine) One of mine even has a cigarette butt in it!! I have decided to take them off give them a good clean out and use them for sweets. This will be very important for the journey to Knebworth!!

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
My neighbour assures me the pump-in sealing fluid worked well for him. He would never have been able to change a wheel - and the fluid saved him a probable long wait for a breakdown service to come to his assistance. He was on his way again in less than 10 minutes - well worth it in his view.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
I've always hated wing mirrors on Minors, or on any other car to be honest. They are absolutely useless, they spoil the look of the car, damage a car cover and provide vandals with something to tug at.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
Please note the clip-on mirrors are NOT a substitute for proper wing mirrors - their technical term is 'overtaking mirrors' to be used in conjunction with wing mirrors. (But they save you drilling holes in virgin wings). You can mount them at any height on the window channel.
In my case, one of these is better than no mirrors at all.
Note the (closed) quarterlight gap in the photos - they don't make 'em like that anymore (!)

Windscreen
Blimey, how did you get half of your windscreen bricked up so nicely?

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
I'm really not sure you know. Perhaps it has something to do with light and the reflective qualities of glass? Who knows, but it makes it incredibly hard to see anything through the windscreen.

Re: Worst Accessory Ever ????????
I have proper wing mirrors fitted and they give perfect vision, but as a habit I still look in the clip on quarterlight mirror when making a right hand manoeuvre even though it doesn't really show the blind spot. But still a good accessory.
