Engine Back plate torque setting ? 1098cc

Post by mogbob »

Hi
Anyone know the torque setting for the back plate please.( I can find the flywheel torque setting.)

The old plate had no gasket fitted and hairline cracks around two bolt holes.

Cracking is not unknown - drill tiny holes at the end of the cracks to stop them - and weld them up if you can. They are standard 5/16" bolts - so 25 ft lbf is right - but hardly critical. I have always just nipped them up firmly with a socket and ratchet.

Thanks for that Roy ( font of all knowledge..things Morris Minor !! ) your opinion always welcome.

My pal has secured a second hand one at a very reasonable price....and a new gasket.
The damaged one is in the pile of "surplus parts" for inspection at our leisure , once the car is back on the road.
