General Help?

Post by MoggieJazz »

Hi all,
Sorry to trouble you.
OK - its a series 2 split screen.
I want to convert to neg earth ( as I am happy with that) - I have the instructions from minor matters and the web - it seems straightforward - if I convert to neg earth - do I have to do anything with the dizzy etc or is the article in minor matters all I have to do? I am not running a radio , cd or any other ancillaries.etc
Second thing - I have a slatted grill which is a a creamy colour - is there a pain t code for this as it needs touch up.
The internal rear view mirror needs replacing - its a split screen so does anybody have a part number / supplier ?
last question - honest!
I need to replace the rubbery fabric-y seals around the door shuts- again - does anyone have a part number / supplier ?
Thanks for all your help
Colin

( PS my son drove the moggie for the first time last weekend- it was great seeing the silly grin on his face! )

Negative earth conversion is very simple. I didn't read the recent item in Minor Matters, but the Tech Tips are correct. re-polarise the dynamo and swap wires on coil. Everything else works just fine either way round.

Slatted grill will be Old English White, order it by name, every good supplier will know it. Plenty of suppliers advertise in Minor Matters and some have online shops as well as telephone sales.

Door trim / draught excluder available from any of the suppliers as above. Original type with coloured fabric to match trip and requiring clips to fit it, or more modern softer "bubble" type available only in black, but a simple push fit. Your choice.

You also need to clean (or renew) the points in the dizzy and fuel pump when swapping polarity.

If it is the type mirror that attaches to the centre screen pillar and it is just the glass that needs replacing then you can get a new piece cut at your local suppliers. If you get it slightly larger than the original then you can see the whole of the rear screen.
