Front panel fixings

Hi,

When I took Rosie's front panel off I noticed that the fixings weren't standard nuts and bolts but more like the bumper nuts (I believe the technical term is step bolt?). Is this original for a 1971 car and if so does anyone know of a supplier?

The front panel should be held on with 1/4 BSF nuts and bolts (they have 3/16 Whitworth heads), you can get these from the usual Morris Minor suppliers (BM, ESM etc) , Namrick also sell BSF nuts and bolts or you can get them locally if you have an old fashioned shop like we do in East Kent that sells nuts and bolts and hardware- exactly like the two Ronnies "Four Candles" sketch.

Sometimes these fixings look like coach bolts (I think that's the right term) because mud and corrosion fills the space in the front panel and sticks to the bolt when it's removed, like a mould forming a nicely shaped stepped shoulder!

These were definitely coach bolts (thanks for the UK term) I was wondering whether they started using them on later cars as it looked very smart!
