How To Trace A Cars History ??. REG 6189UI.

I know most of my cars history(1970,two door saloon),it was registered in Northern Ireland,01/05/1970,in Londonderry.The old brown log-book,shows 1 owner until 31/11/81,BUT then theres a gap until it appears again on the V5 being registered in England 1/7/88,at the Morris Minor Centre,in Bath.Is there any way i can find what happened to it during those years (81-88) ??.
