Nut and bolt thread type

Post by MGs »

I am in need of large quantities of nuts and bolts for my rebuild (my current stock are all metric - Mercedes).

Am I right in thinking that the majority of threads on my 1965 Minor will be BSF?

I have found mixed boxes of both UNF and UNC with Frosts http://www.frost.co.uk OK for our Riley Elf, but that doesn't need that many.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

And don't be tempted to use stainless bolts.....they set up an electro cell with steel, and the steel rots away......

OK thanks. I'll have to look around for a BSF box as that is what I need most of. Yep, I was aware of the dissimilar metals corrosion. It is hard enough to prevent rust, without giving it a helping hand. Not much of a problem at the moment, as the strip down shows that most of the car is held together by body filler
