Fuel Pump

I'm looking at buying a new fuel pump for my standard 1098. I was thinking of one of the electronic versions offered by the Birmingham Moggy Centre.

Has anyone used these, any good?

I like the idea of fit and forget.

Dont we all, but seriously there is not much wrong with the original type but if you feel happier with an electronic type make sure that its an SU one and not one of the aftermarket made ones (most seem to be German made) as there have been many complaints in recent times of them not lasting very long, you can tell the difference as the base is much thinner on the pattern ones.
Both of the SU types are now made by Burlens.

With a new set of points in a half decent original SU pump, you can normally forget all about it.
I guess with any new pump you will get 12 months warranty but are they going to last 40+ years like the SU version? Hard to say, however there may be a few people around who've had one for a couple of years, maybe more so that way you'd know if they are not so bad. If they offer a 3 or 5 year warranty then that gives the right signals that even the manufacturer is sure they are good.

The ones to really really avoid are the German (Hardi) pumps which normally have a white/grey plastic cap - they are getting famous for failing on Minors. If I had one of those on a car again I'd take it off as soon as possible
