Could you please advise me the thread and bolt size for the two bolts on the water outlet pipe on the side of the MM side valve engine.

Hi Alan,
I'm in the middle of rebuilding one of thos and everything I've touched so far was metric (as standard).
e.g. head studs M10 x 1.5
As the engine is 50 miles away I csan't check those, but the first thing I'd say to compare them with is M6 and M8.
If you don't have the bolts I can ask the owner to check the length.

From memory M8 x 1mm (metric fine), should be the same as the thermostat housing on the later engine. As Ray says the engine threads are metric with Whitworth nuts, eg head bolts are M10 x 1.25 with 5/16 Whit. nuts.
