Morris Minor Saloon

There is a morris minor saloon standing in the yard of a bodyshop in Broad Oak Brede Nr Rye on the Rye Road. The owner owns the bodyshop he had intended to restore it but never got round to it,l understand he wants about £300.00 for it.He wants to keep the registration number.BON 581 or 581 BON
If anyone is interested i can give more details.

Are you local? Any chance of a photo or an email address for the bodyshop??

Hello David,
Yes l will try and get a photo and the name and address of the owner.
l have known this car for many years and it will need a lot of work.
l am local well about 6 miles away from it. l live in Rye,so give me a couple of days to get back to you.

Thanks! I'm not local but I passed through the village today and recognised the name so I thought i'd try and see it on the way through. I didnt spot a panel shop or anything similar but not to worry. I was only interested if it was a good solid shell as I have a plan to transplant my engine and running gear into a 4 door if my Moggie wont sell!

I always thought that to transfer a number plate the car had to have a valid MOT which this one doesn't.

Yes an mot is required but most numberplate traders seem to be able to get one anyway irrespective of condition
I suspect they simply put the plates on another car for the test :(

Some testing stations are more fussy than others re checking chassis numbers etc.

The car dosent come with the numberplate anyway according to the op.

Unfortunately in that condition without a numberplate and not being run for some years its value is going to be very little and at our branch we get offered car complete cars with numberplates in that condition for free.
