New windscreen rubber leaks

Hi, I have just fitted a new rubber and insert to solve a leak in the corner of the windscreen but the leak is still there. Any ideas?

Did you use a sealing compound between rubber and body?

You shouldn't NEED any sealant if the rubber is made to fit the car......

my car has been bone dry every since and it has been out in some heavy down pours.

Could it be the unsert? It seemed too long ans I cut off the excess? Chris

No - it's always over long - by design to ensure it is long enough! The shape of the rubber at the corners will be the problem.

Hi, Is it a case of taking the screen out or using the leak searcher suggested earlier?

It's very much up to you - I guess depends how bad the leak is. And can you tell if the leak is between steel and rubber, or rubber and glass? The correct fix is to take it out - check everything carefully - and refit it properly. You may decide it's wise to put a bead of sealant round the window opening before fitting the seal. Window fitting is always best done on a warm day - with the sun on the rubber for an hour or so to make it nice and pliable.
