Paint colour

This has probably been asked before. Is there any way of finding a paint code, on the car?
Is it recorded as part of the vehicle number on the commission plate?

I have just bought a tatty, 1965 saloon. The interior is grey blue. It was sold as being dove
grey. However, it is pale blue. Anyone got any idea what colour it is. From the lists on
this board, it should not have that body colour with that interior. I need to know as it
needs some bodywork and a full respray.

Welcome to the messageboard I'm afraid that there isn't a paint code actually recorded anywhere on a '65 Minor.

The only '65 Minors with a blue interior were trafalgar blue (mid/dark blue) and smoke grey (light blue). A dove grey car would have had a red interior. Your car looks to be a non-standard colour - more of a turquoise colour - so it has probably had a respray at some time in the past. Have a look at the 'not easy to get at areas' to see whether there is any sign of paint which is a different colour from the exterior. I think that your car was probably likely to have been smoke grey originally.

If you want to respray your car the same colour as it is now you could get the paint mixed up for you by providing a sample of the paint. That’s the best way to get an exact match!

The BMIHT Production Trace Certificate will give the original colour

Thanks, guys. The underside of the boot lid is Trafalgar blue, but even that looks like a replacement panel.
I'm thinking of a non standard colour combo, as it is not that original anyway. I have a large quantity of old
english white left from a previous restoration. So will probably go with that and some grey carpets (don't
show the dirt too much). However, the wife is all for smoke grey, so I'll probably have to bow to superior
opinion.
I expect you will be hearing more from me, as I have a huge amount of work to do.

does it have a zipped headlining? evidence of filling in the holes for the light on the roof?

No, the headlining is standard. I have now stripped out the interior. What panels I can see are mostly Trafalgar blue. It looks
as if the car has been resprayed a couple of times in varying shades of light blue.
