Hi All,
Can anyone nip out to the garage and remove the disptick from the a series engine for me?
What I need is the following info.
Type of engine (mine is the 1275 from an Austin 1300 circa 1970)
Type of receptical the dipstick goes in to (mine is a plastic receptical about 31mm long from dipstick entry to block face).
length of dipstick from engine block flange to "maximum"
Length of dipstick from engine block flange to "minimum"
Length of dipstick from engine block flange to "end of dipstick"
Reason for this is to adapt a dipstick I currently have here to fit and measure correctly.
Cheers.
Spence

Re: Dipstick
Early 1098 Minor (1963). Plastic tube with about 30mm sticking out. Not sure what you mean by engine block flange, but measuring down from the bottom face of the rubber washer on the dipstick: 195mm to max, 216mm to min, 238mm to the end.

If it doesn't work, you're not hitting it with a big enough hammer.
