if you're not planning on selling then the value means very little. if you are selling then it could be a selling point! or you could do what i did and do as little as possible to fit it to make it reversible. ok i cut holes in the scuttle trim panels to mount the speakers but you can pick up second hand ones easily enough.

it's your car, do what you want to it, not what you hope the next owner might want from it. that's no way to live!

it's like buying a brand new car in some stupid colour you'll always regret choosing, just because its resale value might be a bit better!

IN MY EYES if the cars had work (welding ) or other then sod the value if its a mint un touched moggy then leave it alone
mines had loads of welding so in went a mg 1275 engine and painted grill ............................... and then the radio and speakers its almost done so pictures will be on for all of u thanks guys

SO HERE WE HAVE THE RADIO UNIT AND MY ONE OFF AS I KNOW UNIQUE FIRST DASH RPM PETROL OIL AND WATER GAUGES WITH A MG MIDGET SPEEDO 120MPH

THE RADIO/CD PLAYER/MP3 JACK (for mp3 ipod phone) is a sendai cd 789
SPEAKERS are alpine type e sxe 69c2 (6"x 9" inch size) 45watt RMS or peak 280watt
BOTH THESE UNITS FROM HALFORDS FOR ONLY £90 YES £90.00 CHEAP

Run the yellow straight to the battery with a 10amp fuse in line, as near to the battery as possible. Take your multimeter (you do have one of those don't you? Get one if you don't, less than a tenner and an absolute God-send when diagnosing electrical problems) and pull out the speedometer. You will now be able to feel around the back of the ignition barrel, and use the multimeter to find the contact on the back of the barrel that gives you 12v when you turn the ignition on. Plug your red wire in there (if you need further instructions on this then I can expand). Your radio will now turn on when you start the engine and turn off when you switch it off, but it can still be turned on and listened to with the ignition totally off.

Mine was fitted prior to purchase, and the radio simply goes into the fuse-box for it's power - one which is already ignition-linked. - this means that there's no messing around with the ignition terminals etc.

I'm going to help my dad fit a radio to his 1974 MG Midget after exams. (he's clueless about electrics - more so than me! :p)

The speakers look good there, and i do like the custom dash! Big fan of what your doing. However when speaker location has been previously discussed (search back through if interested) it has been suggested that the part where you have mounted your speakers was structural, and cutting may not be ideal, unless reinforced. It may be an exaggeration, but its just what i have read previously.

Yep, all the same applies. I took the live for my cigarette lighter from the ignition live side of the fuse box but decided to take the live for the radio from the ignition to cut down on wires running around behind the dash. The load is on the permanent live to the battery so there isn't a lot of load on the ignition wire, otherwise I'd have run it from the fusebox too. Any other questions feel free to pm me.

hi alex and ane thanks for the info bu ive done it now but ill take this info into thought and have a second structural look as i thought it would not be a prob thou i can make/get a small type of steel girder and reforce it if needed as the 12755cc should take it lol
