Got the needle?

Post by Oldmogman »

Does anyone have a list of needles for the SU HIF44 that describes their characteristics, such as weak/rich, etc, through the rev range?

I was advised in a previous post that the BDL needle is standard for the Ital engine, and is weaker than a BAZ.

Could anyone confirm that – or tell me what needle they’re running and how suitable it is?

My car runs a mildly-tuned 1275 Marina engine with an HIF44 on a Metro inlet manifold with a K&N filter.

Thanks all!

Hello OMM,

have a look at this link for a comparison, http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/suneedle/.

You can also get a book of needle data from Burlen fuel services.

The BDL is the needle for the MG Metro - so if your engine is to that spec it will be fine. Otherwise - mintylamb is indeed the place to go! No need top buy a needle book - there are MANY listings on the web.
