Hi Guys,
Is the water pump located on the block with a dowel? Moss seem to list 2 different types of dowel for both the cast iron and alloy water pump. However, as far as I can tell, none of the other Minor specialists list a dowel.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Regards
John

Re: Water Pump
As far as I know all the later cars have alloy pumps.
My guess is that cast iron pumps may have been fitted to the side valve engines.

Yes there are dowels - I thought (in fact jolly sure! ) same one for both types of pump. Early pump was indeed cast iron.

Re: Water Pump
The water pump for the later side valve engine is completely different to the A Series pump.
I thought that the Series11 pump was different to the later engines.

It sure is
A cast iron pump with an inlet for grease, and attaches via three studs coming out of the block. Pully is detachable.

Cast iron pumps were the standard fitting. Alloy pumps are from later cars, but can be retro fitted. Found a source of the dowels too
