brake calipers
whats the best way of removing the pistons from brake calipers when they are off the car? they aren't seized, i just need to remove the pistons so i can renew the seals
Re: brake calipers
I assume the car has non-standard brakes - since Minors never had discs/calipers. Some say they can be pushed out with compressed air - but I have always had to use my grease gun which just happens to have the correct 3/8" UNF thread on the end! Be sure to clean out ALL the grease before rebuilding. If the pistons are less than pristine it's well worth fitting stainless ones.

Re: brake calipers
I'v always used compressed air but wrap a cloth around the caliper first as old break fluid in the eyes ain't good
. if its a twin piston unit clamp one (gently)with grips, remove and referb then do the reverse for the second piston
use a flat bar or file to apply even pressure across the piston when you push it back in.
