Re: Engine kangaroo'd and stopped
kangarooing and stopping is usually fuel / carb / fuel pump related. That's certainly where i'd focus until it can be ruled out.

Check the piston in carb is free to rise and fall (with a clunk when it hits the bottom). Then adjust the mixture screw right up fully and then wind down 2 full turns. This should give you a baseline for the mixture. Make sure also that air is getting into the carb (try it with air filter removed completely if necessary).....

Why did you change the head gasket ?? Did it do this before - or after - the gasket change ? Are the plug leads on right order ? Valve gaps all set correctly?

Re: Engine kangaroo'd and stopped
Thanks for all sugestions . We changed head gasket after the car stopped as we thought that was the problem .I will try checking the mixture screw tomorrow .We have checked the points and condenser .
Re: Engine kangaroo'd and stopped
Can't see why you would think it was the head gasket - anyway - as with any failed engine, you need to decide if it's a fuel shortage - so - pour some fuel into the carb mouth and crank it - if it runs - then fuel supply is the problem. If it doesn't - start tracing the electrics for a spark!
