Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
13" wheels can look good, if you choose carefully and get the right tyres.
Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
It's all part of the quest for better acceleration. I'm not sure about rostyles myself, just checking if they were a "bolt on" option. I'd probably go for Midget steel wheels myself. The suspension would probably need to be dropped 1 1/2 inches to correct the "sit" of the car.

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
ive lowered mine 3 inch on the front and 13" still dosnt look right, but it could have been the tyres

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
They seem quite cheap on the 'bay. Maybe that's the reason, they don't look good on anything?

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
I agree about the Rostyle wheels, but 13" x 5.5" steel wheels and 185/70x13 or 165/80x13 give virtually identical rolling radius as 145/80x14 tyres. With the wider wheels and lowered about 2", looks pretty good too! But then I'm biased, and have been looking at them for 40 years!

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
If I get some Midget steel wheels and then find I don't like them, I can always get rid of them again and go back to 14 " wheels. It's not like loosing £350+ on 13" alloys!!
Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
If you run 165 80 R13 tyres on Miget rims the overall rolling radius (and look) won't be that much different to 145's on Minor rims....

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
Well, I've just bought a load of 155s from Bully, so wont be swapping for a while. But good to bear in mind when the time comes...

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
Standard Midget steel wheels are 3.5" wide, so 155's are really the widest tyre to fit.

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
not to steal the thread but would putting bigger wheels on lower the acceleration then ?

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
Yes, in theory, the bigger the rolling radius the slower the acceleration but higher the top speed......hotrodder13 wrote:not to steal the thread but would putting bigger wheels on lower the acceleration then ?

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
Is that the plain steel wheels? I've got 145's on my Sprite and wouldn't go any wider on those rims but my brother used to run 165/70's on his Midget with Rostyle wheels.IslipMinor wrote:Standard Midget steel wheels are 3.5" wide, so 155's are really the widest tyre to fit.

Re: Midget Rostyle Wheels
Yes, the plain steel wheels are 3.5" and the Rostyle's are wider, either 4" or 4.5", not sure which, or maybe both depending on the year?? The 3.5", even with 155's, look a bit small and skinny on a Minor!
