seal not holding coolant on water pump

Post by xpress »

the seal/gasket's not holding the coolant (which is thinner than water) as well as it used to on the water pump, (getting a steady little drip and when things are warmed up it slows down or stops. can i put something in there to revitalise this seal for now, or a bars leak pellet, what would you recommend?

If the water pump seal is leaking - get another water pump...........

sorry, i meant to say, i am not sure if it's the seal, not had it off yet, it might be the gasket! but the seal, would it cause a regular drip drip every 2 seconds? it's dropping down to the floor right in front of the sump and in the middle, very much in the middle.

Most likely it's the bypass hose - but unless you take it all off you will never know!

It could also be dripping from the hole under the shaft, in which case the seals have worn
