new dizzy

hi. my dizzy has passed it's best years now and i think the vaccum isn't working either.

i have the standard 948 engine. would this be a direct replacement as it seems very cheap

If you want the 'electronic' version - then yes it will fit nicely. However the non-electronic ones are half the price...... and that's what I would get. But personal choice......if you have the readies - just GO for it!

cheers people. the only thing that worries me is the dizzy cap. they look different on the new ones. would old ones fit them?

No - it comes with a new cap I believe ? That's part of the 'improvement' - larger cap with greater spacing between the terminals = less chance of arcing over.

just to say i purchased one, with new leads for £60. it has arrived and looks good.

Why not get a standard dizzy then add the electronic later, so if you dont like it change it back.
Trouble with electronic if it goes wrong on a trip how do you test it at the road side. Points condenser rotor arm are easy to to check or replace .
As the AA man said think it might be your electronic ignition I phone for the Tow Truck

i'm sure it will be fine. more and more people are fitting them these days it seems.

Probably - but as above - if it fails you are stranded. Carry the old dizzy with you just in case! Then it will NEVER fail.

I think you will find that if it did fail you can just remove the module and replace with points & condensor and be on your way.
