Before I aquired him, my 1956 Series II had stood in a garage for 23 years without use. I have driven it around an orchard whilst I am working on getting it through an MOT. Sometimes, after not being started (or driven) for a week or two, the clutch seems to stick. From starting the engine, I can’t get it in gear, even with very low revs. Starting the engine in gear causes a lurch forward but does free the clutch. Once it has done that it is fine for the rest of the day.
Has anyone any advice on this please.
Does it just need using?

Re: Sticking Clutch
It needs a good 'using'! Put the car in top gear - rev the engine hard and lift your foot straight off the clutch (clear road ahead!) - that should get it slipping a bit and should polish up the faces nicely.

Re: Sticking Clutch
is it sticky after sitting overnight or only after a few weeks?
If it is sticky in a very short period then it may be suffering from burnt oil residue (sticky stuff) on the clutch.

Re: Sticking Clutch
It is certainly not so much of a problem, if not left for a couple of weeks.rayofleamington wrote:is it sticky after sitting overnight or only after a few weeks?
