Will a 19 year old get insured on a 1380?
Hi everyone, i've had a 1098 minor for about a year and a half (since passing my test), and now have the opportunity to get my hands on a modified minor (1380, toyota 5 speed, uprated suspension, no bumpers etc). I was wondering what peoples experiences where trying to insure modified cars as a young driver. I'm with Footman James at the moment.
Thanks, Callum

Hiya, I'm 19 and drive a 1275 minor with 5-speed box and have done since i was 17, I'm with Footman James and the price isn't really much different to that for a standard minor, off course they would prefer it if you had the brakes suitably modified to cope too

It's those pesky 3rd parties that are expensive, the ones that walk around and drive other cars.
There is more to insurance than replacing some old banger.

I had a 1990 318iS 16v when I was 19 and my insurance was well under £1k even though it was lowered. The amount of crashes one particular model suffers affects insurance which is why a Peugot 106 can be expensive to insure. You need to hunt down a specialist insurer.
