riley brake question

Before i order some bits, i would like to know if the standard flexible rubber hose on the morris will screw directly into the riley 1.5 standard brake cylinders? or would i need a new hose and if i did what brake pipe end piece would screw into the flexible pipe? lots of questions i know, but best to find out before i take everything off and realise that nothing fits together.

I honestly don't know -at first I understood it was a different thread/pipe - but since then I think someone said they simply used the standard Minor pipe - that's certainly the case with W brakes. Why don't you try a bleed nipple (or a brake pipe fitting) in the cylinder to see if the thread is the same - 3/8" UNF.

I am sure that I used Morris flexible hoses on my Wolseley brakes which presumably have the same threads as the Riley brakes. The only thing I did have to change was the short cylinder connecting pipe as I used Morris wheel cylinders

It IS the same for W brakes - and I used the Minor cylinder connecting pipe. Just some doubt about the R cylinders - although I suspect they will accept the Minor flexi.

The Minor wheel cylinder connecting pipe is too short when fitted to 9in brakes. I had a pair of new pipes made.

Maybe - if it came from 7" drums ?? The 8" one on mine stretched out nicely. But it is only minutes to make new ones if you need them.

Mine were from 8in drums but did not fit. For the rare occassions that I have to change a brake pipe it is not worth getting the flaring equipment

whilst fettling in the shed, i discovered that the adjusters from my old landrover where the same as the riley's, which begs the question, would the cylinders be the same? i found a picture of the landrovers cylinders and they look remarkably similar. could it really be that easy?http://www.paddockspares.com/pp/SERIES/ ... %2F81.html

Well! Why not ask James Paddock the question - does he have a drawing of the dimensions - what bore is the cylinder - and will he sell you one on 'sale or return' ??
