Wanting Chassic Number Confirm

Hi I looked at a convertible today here in New Zealand and would like to know if it is a genuine convertible on the tag : SMM135299 MNR/SYN I can be contacted on gilbert-roberts@xtra.co.nz Cheers Gilbert.

The early Series MMs were all coded SMM regardless of body type. If there are no give away clues such as re-enforcing panels missing and marks where the lid was removed then the only reliable method is to contact British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) and ask for a search on that chassis no. The seller should reply honestly to the question but I have found one or two trying to pass cars off as genuine.
