quick fix for travellers

i was at my mates house.a guy came to see about a morris traveller.it had failed on wood work over the wheel arch.my mate said leave it with me ill fix it..when the guy had gone .my mate whent to the car spares.bought some resin and hardner.and called in the pet shop.bought a bag of saw dust.taking it home he mixed the resin and saw dust to a paste and a bit of hardner and molderd to shape.when dry he sanded it down.put some varnish on and took it back for the guy to mot place.the mot guy said its like rock.my mate laughed .and got a fresh mot..iv notseen any thing like it and could not stop laughing

until the car has a bump up the back and everything crumples as the structure of the wood is compromised :roll: you would not laugh if some one slapped a baked bean tin on a chassis leg so why do the same with the wood

Sorry for sounding so stern.

Tell your mate that he is a fool for playing with someone elses life. The woodwork is STRUCTURAL! i.e. what your mate has just done is pretty much as bad as filler on a chassis leg!!!


if hes handy with a jigsaw he could probably make a replacement section in under an hour and have it fitted in another hour or 2.


Sorry if ive offended by what ive said but the fact of the matter is, its a bodge and a dangerous one at that.
