Anyone got Durable Car co on Google Earth?

Post by RobThomas »

Sri Lanka seems well covered by the mapping but I can't find the famous 'factory' on there.
Anyone got it?

I visited there when I was on holiday in Sri Lanka.

It's fairly nondescript from the road and easily missed, I just caught sight of a Minor while cruising around in a tuk tuk looking for it.

Very nice people working there, I showed them my London South Central membership card by way of credentials, as it has a picture of a Minor on it.

I went there on my honeymoon. Galle and the surrounding area is quite well defined on Google earth but I can't seem to find the actual building.

If you put 6.033383,80.233331 into Google maps I think that is the place.

They are in the right hand one of the larger buildings below the arrow and the cars awaiting restoration, the first 3 pictures on my site, were in the building the arrow points at.

No Google street view in Sri Lanka and good maps seem almost impossible to come by.
I don't think GPS maps are available either, anything like that can count as military intelligence.
