Im thinking of buying a morris as my first car. Ive looked at a series 2 morris minor 803cc.
I would value any opinion as regards driving this as a daily car, or do people think a morris 1000 is a better option.
Thanks in advance for any info
Josh

Now repeat after me.
Morris minors are the way forward.
Don't ever be told that your life wont be taken other by owning a classic car.
You can never own to many vintage cars.
Now that wasn't hard was it.

morrris 1000 is a better option as the series II with an 803 engine is quite a slow car especially if you are going to go on motorways

Go for a 64 - 70 2 door 1098 Minor. You should have no spares problems, it will be easy to maintain and you will have a useable daily car

Re: Series 2 morris Minor
I had a 1953 Series 11 many years ago in 1962 and used it in London traffic without problems, since then I have had many cars and last year I decided to get a Morris Minor Series 11 again purely for nostalgic reasons. As normally happens in life, one of these in good condition did not appear at the time and I eventually bought a 1966 Morris Minor 1000. On reflection I am glad I did, it all depends on what you want to do with the car, do you want to keep on using local roads or when the occasion is necessary to save time (not always these days) take the motorway. With modern traffic, I realise now that the 1000 engine feels safe and can deal with life on the motorway, even keeping the speed reasonable at say a variable 40-60 mph I have a quite comfortably journey, usually on the inside lane as I never "thrash" the engine up to the maximum I think it can do.

the early cars have even more character than the later ones...
there are a fair few SII Minors around with Minor 1000 running gear, which adds more options to your search.
