Hi All.
Engine and gearbox in now and require to fit the ancillaries, could someone let me know if thread lock is required when fitting the exhaust manifold studs to the cylinder head? I’m not a fan of thread-lock unless absolutely necessary.
Also any torque figures for them?
Thanks
Dennis

Re: Fitting manifold studs
Don't they have spring washers?
No thread lock needed.
12ft/lbs rings a bell, they are brass so go easy.

Re: Fitting manifold studs
Thanks.
Yes, the copper nuts that are used to fit the manifold on have spring washers, would this also hold the studs in place?
The studs were removed when the head was machine.
Cheers

Re: Fitting manifold studs
The studs don't normally come loose, I usually nip them up with long handled pliers but you could use two nuts locked together to tighten them up, it would be better engineering practice.

Will use the locked nuts.

Re: Fitting manifold studs
Two steel nuts locked - just nip them in. Don't use shakeproof washers under the brass nuts, except at the two ends - no need!
