Paint Order

Post by fweddy »

I'm doing a ute and have the bodywork about ready to paint. Its all in bits, cab off chassis etc. Should I paint it and them assemble or assemble then paint or paint some areas/coats then assemble and finish? :-?

Lo, personally I would paint everything I could whilst in pieces.
this means that the paint is covering all parts even those which
are not visible when it is all assembled. Somehow this 'thorough'
painting always gives the vehicle a more finished look.

I should add that the disadvantage of this method is that you have
to take extreme care when you assemble these nice shiney parts
as it is all too easy to scratch them,
