Brake Bleed Pipe

Hi

Does anyone know where I can buy a brake bleed pipe (for my traveller) from and receive it by the weekend, and a spanner to undo the reservoir nut.

Most motorshops should sell the kits, halfords etc. And it may be useful to get a small funnel also, to save yourself getting brake fluid all over the floor.

All you need is a ring key that fits the nipple (some are 7/16" AF, some 8 mm - some various other sizes!!! ) - and a bit of rubber or plastic hose, best is see-through plastic - and a jam jar. Put a little fluid in the jar - fit ring key over nipple and then fit the pipe on the nipple. Open the nipple slightly - press brake pedal once right to the floor and then slowly let it rise up again, sit back and watch for any bubbles appearing at the end of the tube in the jar. Keep the reservoir topped up. When happy no more bubbles - close nipple and move on to the next one. Start at the back nearside - then back offside, then front nearside and finally - front offside.

Have checked the reservoir and it is empty.

Would you recommend a particular brake fluid or do I get any ?

Any to DOT3 or DOT4 spec - Standard stuff sold in halfords or other motor factors. If the fluid is missing it must be leaking from somewhere so I doubt you'll get a decent brake pedal until you find the source of the leak and fix it - suspect wheel cylinders first.....

As above - if empty - you have a leak! Probably a wheel cylinder - so drums off for inspection. The shoes will be ruined too - you can't re-use shoes that have been soaked in brake fluid.
