GPO/PO Cab numbers....(Yawn!)
Has anyone been bonkers enough to attempt making sense of these?
Have managed to do 1953-1959 and 1964 onwards....BUT am at a loss with the ones in between...(sigh!)
(x 12345 (xBMB ???x) P????? x) = Series 2 Engineers
(x 12345 P????? (x BMC ???? x) = " Mailvan
this is where it gets confusing....(Huh?!)
Seemingly a new system was introduced after this.....(Fallen asleep yet?)
(x ENG ???? x) = Series 3 Engineers
(x M ???? x) = Mailvan
In 1962(ish) the numbering was mixed together.....(wake up you!!!,pay attention!!!)
(x Z12345-6 P?????? x)
1968(ish)
ALL subsiquent GPO/PO vans..... (yeah yeah...you're snoring was fake!)
(x Z37923-4 3???? x)
Anyone bonkers enough to help with this painfully mind blowing subject PLEASE contact me!!!

Welcome to the messageboard! If you haven't already contacted him, Russ Harvey from the Minor LCV Register is probably the best person to help you with this. E-mail: russ@minorlcvreg dot co dot uk

Loopy-LouM
Have tried all LCV contacts.....no joy!!!!!
Indeed the 'Experts' at MMOC themselves told me I was wasting my time.....needless to say I ignored them and the result is in the forthcoming book.
This mindnumbing book also contains all known GPO/PO Minor registration numbers...53000(ish), as well as chassis, engine + body(pre'63) numbers - totally boring for the vast majority of Minor enthusiasts BUT certainly worthwhile in my eyes!
Thanks for the message.....

Unless you're seriously interested in the number crunching aspect of LCV's it won't be much of a read....
what's the cab number of your motor....(x Z35127-34 2????? x) if it's a '70 civvy...

Re: GPO/PO Cab numbers....(Yawn!)
Thanks
1960ish?
I have very few early Civvy vans' cab numbers....
(x Z = cab code C cab number x)
Obviously the "C" prefix of the number denotes it as "Civilian" whilst GPO vans have a "P" prefix!!
Series 2's have (x Z?????? C ????? (x BMA ???? x)
Any chance of the chassis number?
(somewhere around OEH1/ 105000 at a guess?)
Probably totally wrong, contempory GPO vans are easy to date whilst civvies are a blinkin' nightmare - again, I don't have many Series 3 chassis/cab number combinations to juggle with.....so that's my excuse!!!

Re: GPO/PO Cab numbers....(Yawn!)
Cab number is located high on the n/s bulkhead of the engine bay...level with the cab/ bonnet rubber seal...
narrow strip of metal affixed by self tappers....
same number is repeated on the 'NMP' plate on the N/s engine bay floor under the bumper iron - but this is usually rusted!
will need this number along with the vehicles' chassis number
If we're ever going to make progress with this I need enthusiasts support!!
