Post by //no.comment »

hey just wanted to show off my handywork! ive now got a fully functioning sound system in my car :D
oh and i fixed the self cancel on the indicators, and wired up the front spots so ive had a very productive day![frame]Image[/frame]
oh and i fitted the horn!
ive got a front blanking plate aswell which hides everything away and makes it look like a glovebox, which means i dont have to see that garish modern cd player
anyways im off for a picnic in the park now!
hope everyone else is enjoying the sunshine aswell!

ROB- there are 2 triangular catches in the column mechanism that stick. if you take the wheel off and then the cover on the indicators you will see them purtruding towards the shaft. free them off and lube it up!

no comment have you made the glove box narrower to accomodate the depth of the cd/radio? If yes how have you supported the cd/radio from behind, and how did you alter the glove box?

yeah, i have shortened the glove box, i removed it, drew a straight line with a ruler and used a stanley knife to cut it out. pretty easy really, i also cut out the rectange for the cd player with it aswell,
the radio fits snuggly in the hole and is supported by a cage that came with the cd player something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Universal-ISO-Rad ... 3c9acd1208
the tight fit seems to work fine and support it enough, though it might be havin a little bit of help from the metal dashboard construction.
The good thing about keeping a bit of glove box means you can put you change for the car parking meter etc infront of you, rather than having to reach over to teh other glove box, which you couldnt if you just blanked it off like ive seen others do.
My wallet fone and mp3 player all seem to occupy the useful ledge aswell.
Also the blanking lid just clips in the glove box hole and covers up the radio which is good for security.
