battery drain

My son popped in on Saturday so that we could refit his sub and 6x9s to his new (to him Honda)

That job went well a much easier fit than on his Golf everything was straightforward.

As I went to re connect the battery I noticed a small spark from the batter terminal ( 400 milliamps with my calibrated meter) - First I checked it was nothing to do with the kit I'd just fitted - that was fine.

So yesterday I went over to his to try and trace the fault.

I was drawn to the boot light from where I had removed three big handfuls of shredded paper and jay cloth. Looked like a mouse nest but no sign of the critter. It was a lucky guess - the light in the boot didn't work the bulb was fine but it didn't work so I took the bulb out and the battery drain immediately dropped to 12 milliamps.

Problem solved!! I guess the mouse had chewed a wire and or peed on something.

Isn't it good when you trace these little faults first try!

I've been told that mice pee almost continually as they don't have a bladder.
