Brake problems

I am tring to get my 1965 morris minor back on the road after a 8 year lay off. Most of the brakes were soild, so the brake cylinders have all been replaced, together with the rubbers in the master cylinder. I then bled the system and the brake peddle went to the floor with no resistance.

I clamped all the hoses and pressed the brake peddel and it moved very little, i then unclamped each hose in turn and tried the peddel again, it moved a little further but would not go to the floor. What is the problem i am at a loss!

There appears to be no leaks and i have bled the system several times with no luck.

Has anybody got any ideas how to solve the brakes??

Welcome to the forum! I hope you also fitted new flexi hoses - after an 8 year lay-off they could be past their best. To get a good pedal - adjust the brakes right up hard all round, and then bleed them, starting at the back. The 'never known to fail' method involves a helper to pump the pedal. They build up pressure - you snap the bleed nipple open and close, and then the helper allows the pedal to rise. Repeat a few times at each nipple - checking as you go for a nice hard pedal. Only then do you back-off the adjusters slightly to allow the drums to rotate with slight rubbing. Problem may be in the mastercylinder - fitting new rubbers is not always a success due to possible damaged bore.
