who are they then?
those that are geographically challenged and think that although the country is approx 500 miles from top to bottom, that a place less than 100 miles from the bottom is in the north...

So I take it then Dan, Matt & Ray that you aren't interested in NWL 576?

On a train I've always assumed that I've arrived in the Midlands when I get to Leamington, Rugby, Kettering or Peterborough. I only think I'm really 'oop North' when I get to Crewe, Macclesfield, Chesterfield or Doncaster. Isn't Watford gap a few miles South of Rugby?

Macclesfield
I used to work there. It's about 18 miles north of me, so you still class Stoke as Midlands then?

To confuse the issue
Watford Hertfordshire is by junctions 5 & 6 on the M1 and Watford Gap is junction 17 on the M1 in Northamptonshire 60 miles away and is named after a tiny village also called Watford.

Who, What, When, Where, Why?!?!?!?!?!
With a bit of luck I'll be in my new flat with a running mog by then. Assuming all goes to plan, My solicitor gets their finger out and i fit decent brakes to the mog I'll trundle up there. I have just filled out the form and will stick it in the post this afternoon. Means I may get to put some names and faces to nicks.
How many ppl are expected to go?

I've always thought of it that way (pottery, Josiah Wedgewood etc.) Also Derby and Nottingham as well. Hard to know exactly where the border is though..... :-?

Matt, doesn't the thought of seeing the very first production Minor mean anything? This is the car that featured in various Morris publicity shots and became a huge hit at the 1948 Earl's Court motor show. I'm sure there's a picture of Issigonis standing by it at that Motor show. It's pure history. 8)

Ray when the service station "Watford Gap" was built on the M1 I think that it was refferred to as the gateway to the Midlands and I think the reason behind it is that Northamptonshire has always been refferred to as the start of the South Midlands so you are quite right, and thanks my pack also turned up yesterday.
Sounds good to me Chris but like you say to get a ride in number 1 would be nice but unlikely.
Cheers

Yes, but having a 'photo taken standing next to the car would be nice, especially if framed next to another picture of Sir Alec standing next to the same car........... (sad but nice!)

Me neither! :o Kevin, is this some kind of strange S&M gear using pins that you're referring to? I guess it's nothing to do with a pinstripe suit as worn by City gents and old Etonians....
